From October 8-12, 2014, witness some spectacular performances by Algoza Party, Jumma Jogi’s Bhapang, the exotic Yemen Blues at the Mehrangarh Fort
It’s the eighth edition of the Jodhpur RIFF and we are past the point where they need introductions. A tradition has been established. The magnificence of the Mehrangarh Fort on the moonlit Sharad Purnima has us singing for joy even before we get there! The music is no less accomplished this year. Anticipate the Algoza Party, Jumma Jogi’s Bhapang, the exotic Yemen Blues, members of the Sikar Gharana, stalwart Rajasthani Sufiists such as Darra and Kachara Khan Manganiyar, a rare assembly of traditional women vocalists, native performances like the maand and janda, and extraordinary international collaborators like Mahesh Vinaykram’s vocals with Fazal Qureshi’s tabla and Dilshad Khan’s sarangi, and a moonlit jam led by Scottish drummer James McKintosh.
