Take a close look at light arts at this unique festival
Amsterdam Light Festival (amsterdamlightfestival.com) is an annual celebration of light art, the fifth edition of which will be held from December 1, 2016 to January 22, 2017. Artists, architects and light designers from all over the world will set up artworks and installations along two routes, the boat route and the walking route. Each has its own theme, set of artworks and visitor experience. Both routes are accessible free of charge for everyone.
Water Colors (December 1 to January 22) or the boat route will display monumental objects where the city’s canals are used as a part of the artwoks. Walking or cycling along the route is free of charge. But if you want to watch from the water, then it is necessary to buy tickets from any of the canal companies. Illuminade (December 15-January 8) or the walking route, will display interactive and innovative installations from upcoming designers in the Plantage neighborhood. There is no entry charge for this.
