Tabor Cottage in Landour (Mussoorie) is full of old world charm and comfort
Tabor Cottage in Landour, Uttarakhand1/1photos
A veritable unicorn, that elusive beast that privileges the solo or group traveller over couples, this 15-bedded stone house is run by the same hosts as the posh (and pricey) Rokeby Manor to simple and high standards. Each of the five colour-coded non-smoking rooms has three single beds with snoozer. The original building, circa 1850, has been freshly renovated and thoughtfully, for the public areas are the ones with the streaming sunlight and the view, while the bed chambers are cheery and cosy. The ‘art’ on the walls relies more on wordsmith than artist, and elicits a smile. Breakfast is included, and the Rokeby’s Emily is nearby, but you could choose to enjoy meals here too, with thin-crust pizza and spag bol and fish and chips as well as homestyle Indian. Tariff: From Rs 4,900 Contact: + 91-9634446977, www.taborcottage.com
